Sorry Joy, we’re breaking up

It’s time for a fresh start

It’s funny isn’t it, how somebody can come into your life (or in our case our app) then all of a sudden,  not be there any more. Sometimes letting go of this person can be the hardest thing, as we look back on all of the memories that we made with them.

No matter how much, or how little time they spent with us, the matter of fact is that they became a part of our story. As hard as it is  to say, not every relationship that we encounter will last a lifetime…So we take what we’ve learned and move forward in life.

So with a heavy heart, Joy (you know, our in-game guide who I’m sure many of you have been acquainted with) I’m breaking up with you. It’s not you, it’s me….actually it is you. You see, Joy, I’m on a mission, to shout from the rooftops that eQuoo is the best app for mental health out there. And sadly….I don’t don’t feel that you’re on the same page as me anymore.

How it all began

It’s been a beautiful journey with you, Joy. When our CEO Silja Litvin first founded PsycApps, and brought eQuoo into the world, it was clear the game needed a guide. Naturally it seemed only right to lean on the GOAT of psychology, Freud. After several focus groups, it became clear that an older male guide just wouldn’t have been the right fit, and so Joy, this is where you were born. In German “Freud” translates to “Joy” and what joy you brought us during our time together.

I’ve watched you change, and grow. Through your multiple looks and personalities, settling on charming our players with your dark hair and eyes and lively personality. You were as captivating as I could have imagined, and I became so deeply attached to you. As time went on, it became clear that although you were special to me, I’m afraid you just weren’t adding value to our players.

I’m sorry, Joy, that we have to part terms in the update this month. You would have loved to see everything that we have in store. From the daily mood tracker, to the new wellbeing clinical questionnaire. But I have to do what’s right for me. To get rid of the old, to make way for the new, and I’m afraid you didn’t make the cut.

Not all breakups are bad

But as they say, when one door closes, another opens. And what an exciting door has opened. I don’t mean to brag, but you know in a certain book by C.S. Lewis where a young girl opens her wardrobe door, and finds herself in a magical wonderland. Well, what’s behind our door is better.

First of all in the September update, you’ll find updated skill lessons. We know, our lessons were awesome to begin with, but personal growth is a thing right?! Of course it is, it’s one of our in-app skills! With the latest updates, you’ll find a new gamified approach, which in turn, makes your mental health journey more personal.

Next, drumroll, please, for two new features! Firstly, let us introduce you to our brand new mood tracker. Every day, you can log on to play eQuoo and track your mood using the emoji that most relates to how you are feeling at that moment in time. This will help you to identify your trends and triggers so that you can monitor your mental health more closely.

Last but not least, we have a brand new clinical chatbot. Just when you may have thought we had covered it all, we decided to go one step further and create the Wellness Questionnaire. This brand-new chatbot will allow you to track your overarching wellness score to gain even deeper insights into your mental health. With eQuoo being one of the select NHS-approved mental health apps, not only do you get an app that offers innovative gameplay and features…. it really does work to improve your mental health!

So as we draw this to a close, and bid farewell to Joy, we’re stepping into an exciting new era for eQuoo. Though saying goodbye to Joy is bittersweet, we’re excited to offer you the future of eQuoo and to work together with you to transform your mental health. Here’s to new beginnings.
